ITANAGAR, May 21:The first ever e- Hospital of the State was inaugurated at Urban Primary Health Centre, Itafort today by the Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex Prince Dhawan.

Calling the project as the first in the State, the DC informed that the project has been implemented in collaboration with NIC, Department of Health and Department of IT & C, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The DC hoped that with the launch of the e- hospital, there would be transparency and accountability in the way the hospital management works. He further informed that the e- Hospital would enable online registration and appointment and will provide patient centric services like viewing Lab reports, status etc. for the convenience of the patient. Moreover, all the details of the patients would be available in the website thereby reducing the burden of carrying huge piles of report with them if they go out to other hospitals. 


He further informed that the functioning of e-hospital involves various stakeholders like NIC and IT&C for ICT infrastructure and Health for logistic and manpower and hence it is a collaborative effort and sought their cooperation for the success of the project.


As per the budget announcement this year, the project will be carried out in a mission mode for roll out in the following six districts Bomdila, Aalo, Tawang, Pasighat, Tezu and Ziro. The project is already under process at TRIHMS, Naharlagun.


Director Health Services, Dr. M Lego hoped that the system will streamline the functioning of the Itafort UPHC with the help of modern technology. He also reiterated that the system should be adopted and urged upon the staffers to get into the habit of e-office. As complete healthcare is human right, he informed that the project is launched with an aim to prioritise healthcare in the State.

He also lauded Medical Officer In-charge, Dr. Kabak Tamar for his effort in making UPHC first in the state to have adopted the e- hospital.


Sr. TD& SIO, NIC Saibal Sarkar, congratulated the team of Itafort as apart from being first in the state, it is also the 231st Hospital in the country to have adopted the e- Hospital. The SIO further hoped that with the launch of e- Hospital, other hospitals will also follow suit. 


As humans tend to making errors, the system of e-Hospital will result in accountability of the system, Dr. Tamar said informing that every patient will be provided with a unique ID which can be used to collect medical history of the patients.

It will be extremely helpful during police cases, wherein any old record can also be easily traced out with the help of the patient details, he added. He also informed that e- Hospital can be aligned with HMIS (Hospital Management Information System) which will give a proper reporting system regarding any programme performance.

Sameer Ku. Mishra Project Manager (e Hospital) Luminous info ways Pvt ltd in his presentation informed that e-Hospital is a Digital India initiative of Govt of India to computerize all Government Hospitals and to strengthen online patient-centric interface with provision of unique Health ID(UHID).
