TEZU, Nov 2: A massive fire that broke out today in the main market at 1 am completely gutted five shops leaving four partially damaged.
The mishap caused huge loss of properties which included hardware & wine shops, two hotels and wholesale & garment shops. The cause of the mishap was due to short circuit from a wine shop, informed one of the victims. Fire tenders struggled to douse the fire and JCB was used to keep apart the adjacent shops being engulfed in fire.
DC Lohit, Prince Dhawan along with other officials and police rushed to the spot to closely monitor the situation. Senior citizen Ojimso Tayang, Bazaar Welfare Committee members and people from all walks of life joined hands to extinguish the fire
No loss of life was reported and District Administration has set up a committee to ascertain the actual cause of the fire.
