MECHUKHA, Mar 2: A total of six shops including the panchayat hall building were completely gutted in a fire that broke out near ADC office, Mechukha around 2 am on Friday.
According to reliable sources, the fire started at a shop which later spread and engulfed the nearby ones. However, no casualty was reported, thanks to a team from Indian Air Force (IAF), ALG Mechukha who after receiving information immediately rushed to the spot with fire tender and doused the fire.
It was also learnt that the timely intervention of the IAF team saved the post office and the district election office from being destroyed in the fire.
Meanwhile, the district administration has announced immediate relief for the fire victims and constituted a board to examine the cause of fire including an assessment of losses.
Furthermore, in another fire incident on the same night at Monigong circle of Mechukha, a private house was gutted however no casualty has been reported, as informed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner. ES Newsdesk
