ITANAGAR, Jan 30: Two dwelling houses were reportedly devoured by a ravaging fire and one partially damaged at Weshi village under Pakoti circle in East Kameng district on Monday evening.
The fire reportedly broke out around 5 pm when a dweller was preparing animal feed and later caught fire by sparking woods. On being alerted by neighbours the villagers rushed to the spot, but could not save the two houses from ravaging fire. They could however douse one house from fire.
Responding swiftly to the fire accident, local MLA Mama Natung provided CGI sheets and some cash to fire victims. Expressing solidarity with those affected, Natung also suggested the villagers to stay cautious and vigilant in dry and windy season. “Combustible and flammable materials should be kept away from the fire especially in windy and dry season,” he said.
Meanwhile, Circle Officer Pooja Sonam Notung informed that the district administration has initiated to provide relief to the fire victims as per prescribed provisions of the government. “The report has been send to concerned authority for the relief,” the Circle Officer added.
