ITANAGAR, Nov 2: Home Minister Bamang Felix today attended an array of programs in Bomdila organized by West Kameng district police. Starting the day, he interacted with representatives of various student unions of West Kameng and students of Govt. College, Bomdila and Govt. Higher Secondary School, Bomdila. The theme of the interaction was “Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan”- the community policing initiative of the Home Minister.
Speaking to the gathering, he stressed on the importance of participation of community in maintaining peace and law & order in their area. He futher stressed upon the need of cooperation between the public and police in maintenance of peace and order in the district. He called upon the students to become better citizens for a better future. He also administered HAA pledge to the public.
Speaking to the students, Raja Banthia, SP West Kameng, said that police cannot function in vacuum and community participation is essential for a good environment for policing. DC Dr. Sonal Swaroop also emphasised on the role of civil society.
Felix then interacted with the CBOs of West Kameng and briefed them about the HAA initiative. He stressed that one should not jump to conclusions and should not believe in rumours and fake news. He called upon them to verify the news first and then try to resolve the issue, if genuine, by peaceful means. Members of CBOs also spoke and put up their views.
At the end, Felix concluded the “Ride for Unity” motorcycle rally of West Kameng police by receiving and felicitating the bike riders. He commended the initiative of district police and congratulated all the bike riders for undertaking this endeavour. This motorcycle rally, a brainchild of Raja Banthia, SP West Kameng, started on October 30 from Sela Pass and after passing through Dirang, Shergaon, Kalaktang, Balemu, Bhalukpong, Dahung and Tenga it concluded in Bomdila today. On its way, this rally included various interaction programs with students and local communities including celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Divas at VKV Shergaon.
