ITANAGAR, Sep 16: Home Minister Bamang Felix on Monday flagged off 5 (PCR) vans, 5 vehicles equipped with water cannon and 7 numbers of fire tender vehicles, here at Police Headquarters.
Addressing the media, Felix reiterated the state government's commitment to improve and modernize the state police force to ensure better public service delivery and policing. He also informed that the vehicles were purchased considering the urgent requirement of this facility by police and the fire brigade department.
"The Fire and Police Department is now well equipped to tackle any kind of situation such as law & order problem including all-natural and man-made disasters, " Felix asserted.
Felix also said more such vehicles will be procured on requirement basis in the near future.
On the law and order problem in the state, he said that peace and tranquility will not be achieved without imparting awareness about the law along with public cooperation.
Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar assured to look into the requirement and issues of the police department on a priority basis.
He hoped that the introduction of state-of-the-art vehicles would bolster the hovernment's ability to address challenges faced in a different sector.
The Director General of Police, R P Upadhyaya underlined that the modernization of police force is essential to boost the capability and efficiency of police officers. A host of MLAs, including top officials of the police department, attended the program.
