ITANAGAR, Jul 26: The Galo Welfare Society (GWS) on Saturday held its annual 13th Felicitation Ceremony here at DK Convention Hall to acknowledge the performance of the toppers of X and XII Board Examination, various entrance examinations-2019, UG & PG gold medalists and PhD awardees.
Home Minister, Bamang Felix and Retd Labour Commissioner, M Ete attended the ceremony as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. In his address, Felix stated that the citation the toppers are receiving is the reflection of their selfless dedication and sense of mission with equal contributions by the parents. Reiterating that academics play a pivotal role in the holistic development of the students, Felix enumerated the role of parents in deciding a right career path for their children. He also exhorted the toppers to give back to society, contribute towards the betterment of the state and remember the roots and the people who impacted their lives.
“I have no doubt that every one of you will excel in your future roles, but do always bear in mind that whatever you do in future, do it in a way that will uplift the name of your society and the state as whole,” he pointed out.
Guest of Honour, Retd Labour Commissioner, Morge Ete exhorted the students to learn from the life of Retd IAS officers Gamli Padu & Marnya Ete in order to accomplish success in life. Encouraging the students to carry on with their pursuit of excellence, he advised them to broaden their perspectives and show respect to the societal values.
Earlier, GWS General Secretary, Marcony Potom in his welcome speech highlighted the motive of the felicitation programme and applauded all toppers for bringing pride for the whole community. GWS President, Margnu Kadu and Registrar RGU, Tomo Riba held discussion about the future scope of various streams with the students and made them aware of the available opportunities. Cultural dance presentation and distribution of certificates to toppers marked the day-long celebration.
