Aalo, Jul 3: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi on Friday inaugurated the Aalo West Sipu Farmers Producers’ Organization (AWSFPO) office in presence of officers and representatives from 33 villages under the Aalo West AC amid cheers and applause here at Sipu Colony.
The main objective of AWSFPO is to implement the Cluster Framing initiative recently launched by the state government. The DC while highlighting the district’s soil fertility which is conducive for large-scale farming said that income generating avenues like agriculture, horticulture, fishery and dairy farming have not been explored in a big way. To alter the scenario, he opined that the district’s farmers should reach out to the line departments to avail government facilities and practice double cropping to reach the double income target.
Chairman, Siang Farmers’ Federation Doi Ado said that the break and start attitude in taking up farming among the farmers has been a big hurdle in achieving the agricultural self-reliance goal and the lockdown which was marked with food scarcity has reminded the need once more. Chairman AWSFPO Topak Ori, Kirdo Ete, Deba Loya and Gejum Ete also spoke in detail on Cluster Farming.
The Cluster Farming method envisages taking up 2000 kitchen gardens in 5 hectares of land in each constituency. Aalo East and West ACs have already registered and opened offices and the 27th Liromoba AC is also preparing for registration. DIPRO
