ITANAGAR, Mar 3: A 27-member delegation consisting of officials of Arunachal Pradesh State Hydropower Department and local inhabitants from various districts as  part of an exposure tour to Himachal Pradesh visited various power stations of NHPC from February 23 to March 1.
The delegation had visited Chamera-I, Chamera-II and Chamera-III power stations in Himachal Pradesh and Sewa-II Power Station in Jammu & Kashmir. The visit was an eye opener for the delegates who saw the development ushered in by NHPC in the region.
“The tour was an eye opener for us regarding importance of hydropower” said Karma Lera Mosing of Mechuka, Shi-Yomi District and expressed his strong opinion for construction of hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh without further delay.
Tap Tapuk, a resident of Kamle District, expressed his happiness on witnessing the development in Himachal Pradesh due to construction of hydropower projects.  He further re-affirmed that he will convince the local people for construction of hydro projects in Arunachal Pradesh. Another member of the delegation, Rakhe Sanjoy of Kamle District, assured that he would try to convince local people by highlighting the benefits of hydropower.
During their visit, the delegates were briefed about the social, economic, educational and basic infrastructural development works undertaken due to the construction of Hydropower Projects. The members visited various important installations and were briefed about the various activities undertaken under CSR and SD scheme and its benefits to the locals.
The interaction and the feedback received during the discussion helped in clearing doubts and apprehensions about the concept of hydro projects amongst the delegates.
All the members expressed their satisfaction and happiness for the exposure visit which cleared their doubts and negativity about hydro power projects.
