Itanagar, Dec 6: Enforcement Wing of the state’s Department of Tax, Excise and Narcotics led by its Deputy Commissioner Tanon Tatak accompanied by its Commissioner Kanki Darang conducted a week-long outreach programme from November 24 to December 2 in the eastern parts of the state.
The team imparted live hands-on training on E-Way Bill System to the district Tax, Excise and Narcotics department officials at Changlang, Namsai, Tezu, Roing and Pasighat by checking E-way bills of goods vehicles online in GST officer's mobile app and web portal. As mandated under Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Act, 2017, the E-Way Bill System is an important tool to check inter-state and intra-state movement of goods and payment of GST to prevent tax evasion. The team further detected VAT dues amounting to Rs.1,23,58,119 and realised taxes amounting to Rs.20,70,606. Notice for deposition of dues amounting Rs.1,02,87,513 were also issued to the defaulters. The exercise is in continuation with the Enforcement Wing's effort to check E-way bill  irregularities  since last four months in and around the Capital Complex at strategic locations such as Hollongi, Banderdewa, ISBT Lekhi, Gumto etc.
The programme carried special importance as the GSTN Goods and Services Tax Network has started blocking generation of E-Way Bill for those registered tax payers who have failed to file two consecutive GSTR-3B Returns from December 2 onwards.
