Yupia, Feb 15: An awareness program on electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the conduct of free and fair elections for Gaon Buras of Yupia, Gumto, and Doimukh area was conducted at the EVM Demonstration Centre at the DEO Office, Yupia on Thursday.
The program focused on sensitizing the village heads about the functioning of EVMs and providing them hands on training on casting votes on the EVMs.
Dani Rikang, EAC (Election Cell) asked them to disseminate the information to the villagers and also requested their cooperation for conducting a free and fair election.
During the discussions that followed Nabam Epo, Head Gaon Bura raised a point about honorarium for election-related duties performed by the GBs. He requested for assistance from the Election Department like Travel Allowances, Daily Allowances for food, etc during the Election especially on voting day.
The EAC assured that the matter would be taken up with the CEO,Arunachal Pradesh.
