ITANAGAR, Sep 15:

Member of Parliament, Ninong Ering has drawn the attention of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi towards the mass destruction resulting by the recent flooding in Siang River which caused widespread erosion and flooding on the downstream of Borguli, Seram villages under Mebo Circle including Sika-Bamin, Sika-Tode in Pasighat area.

Requesting the PM to initiate a permanent flood management measure to solve the problems, Ering in a letter requested for sanctioning fund for construction of an embankment along both banks of the Siang River to Oiramghat, Assam.

Other measures proposed include convening an urgent talk with Chinese counterparts on the hydrological information such as the release of water and silt to be released from the power projects such as Zangbu Dam in Yarlung Zangpo in Tibet along with other dams.

He said that it is essential that China must provide data on water release, especially in the monsoon season to allow anticipation of the flow of the water so that prior necessary measures can be taken up on time.
