ITANAGAR/AGARTALA, Mar 10:
A second semester, First year civil engineering student from Arunachal studying at national Institute of technology (NIT) Agartala, suffered serious injuries when a group of seniors of the same institute allegedly beat him black and blue this morning around 1 am without any valid reason.
When contacted the elder sister of the victim, D Doji informed that they came to know about the assault this morning when a friend of her brother informed about the incident to them.
According to Doji, her brother alongwith first year students were summoned by the seniors for a meeting at around 1 am on Saturday morning.
She informed that one Ritu Raj Tiwari, a final year student from UP asked the students to line up and then started questioning about their whereabouts, name of department etc.
“Before hitting my brother, the accused, humiliated a first year student too,” she added.
However when my brother’s turn came, Tiwari first asked my brother where he is from to which replied. Despite politely answering his question, Tiwari said “"Tereko hindi samaj me nahi ati" and then allegedly without any reason started punching my brother in front of his colleagues and seniors, she added.
Doji said when his brother tried to contact us via phone and then other seniors also joined Tiwari in beating and snatched away his phone, tore his clothes and thrashed him for 20 minutes.
She later informed they will file a police complaint very shortly against the culprit and disclosed that as of now the family is awaiting doctor’s report.
