NAHARLAGUN, Dec 15: A one-day seminar cum workshop on Legal Metrology laws for enforcement officers of the Legal Metrology Department was held here on Friday at the conference hall of the Department and the field visit training programme concluded today.
Rajeshwar Kumar, Director Indian Institute of Legal Metrology (IILM), Government of India, Ranchi, who has been invited for giving guidance to the officers of the state for effective implementation of the laws, through power point presentation cleared the doubts of the participating officers. He also suggested senior officers for taking short term special course at Indian Institute of Legal Metrology (IILM), Ranchi for updating their knowledge.
Discussing on the power point presentation given by Taba Tabing, ACLM particularly on awareness programme being organised regularly for the consumers on various occasions, and the future programme of getting certification of the system under ISO 9001- 2008, Rajeshwar Kumar while appreciating the Department suggested for gearing up the enforcement activities as one of the criteria in process of awarding the ISO certification.
Earlier, Hoktum Ori, Controller Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs suggested participants to avail the opportunity to clear the doubts and to derive maximum knowledge from the resource person for better implementation of the laws on the field

MK Naik, Deputy Director, Regional Reference Standard Laboratory (RRSL), Guwahati , while briefing on verification and maintenance of the Secondary Standard Laboratory  of the Department has given due stress on  accreditation of lab so as to  improve status as well as to generate confidence of both consumers and commercial establishments. 

He further suggested for ensuring fulfilment of criteria of a laboratory like obtaining vibration analyst certificate, calibration certificate of the necessary instruments etc.
Later, Jomba Kamgo Lobom, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology and CA, Aalo and Lupha Sikhet, Inspector Legal Metrology and CA, Pasighat were felicitated with certificates of appreciation and a memento each for their achievement in revenue generation consecutively for three years from 2015-16 to 2017-18.
Daro Marbom, DCLM, Minte Siga, DCLM West Zone and Amrit Taba, ACLM also spoke on the occasion.
