NAHARLAGUN, Sep15:
 
Member Secretary APSLSA, Budi Habung on Saturday emphasized on the urgent need to create awareness amongst the people of the State in protecting the rights of the child and called for creating environments that facilitate the holistic growth of children in society.
He was addressing a two-day training session being conducted for the Retainer Lawyers, Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and members of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Special Juvenile Police Unit etc on Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act and other Child Rights at Banquet Hall, Itanagar which commenced  today.
Attending as resource person Special Secretary, DLSA, Geetanjali Goel briefed the background of the law and gave an overview of the Juvenile Justice (care and protection of Children) Act, 2015.
 
She also explained the role and procedure of JJBs in the State in exercising the powers and discharging its functions relating to children in conflict with law under this Act and highlighted about individual care plan and social investigation report.
 
Chairperson CWC Capital Complex, Kani Nada Maling explained in detail overview & practical activities of Child Welfare Committee in the State.
 
Topics such as human trafficking, Role and procedure of CWC, POCSO Act, Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of Children) Act etc will be discussed in the two-day long programme.
