Khonsa, Feb 6: The first phase of election training to all government employees of Tirap District was imparted at Khonsa Community Hall, near Circuit House on February 5.
A total of 407 officers and officials for the election who have already been listed out attended the training program.This included 100 presiding officers, and 300 polling officers to cover the 100 polling stations in the entire district of Tirap.
The first phase of the training was imparted to 100 presiding officers and 300 polling officers and 100 Presiding Officer’s Hand Book was distributed during the training programme. The 2nd Phase Election Training will be imparted on February 10 at the same venue – Community Hall cum Badminton Club, Khonsa near PWD Circuit House.
Briefing the importance of election training, EAC and ERO, Khonsa Hakresha Kri, said that India being the largest democracy in the world is known to be- by the people, for the people and of the people. He also appealed to all the government employees to abide by Election Commission of India rules.
Nodal Officer (EVM), DSO(Statistical)Tirap District Nokgen Wangsu,gave practical demonstration of EVM/VVPAT to all the trainees. While imparting the training he said that VVPAT has been introduced for the first time in the country in addition to EVM, adding that VVPAT being a very sensitive electronic device needs proper care in handling during election process.
