ITANAGAR, Jun 2: The Election Commission of India on Tuesday vide Gazette notification No. 318/CS-Multi/2/2020 in congruence with the notification issued by the Union Law Ministry has announced June 19 as the date of election to the lone Rajya Sabha seat of Arunachal Pradesh which is due to fall vacant on June 23 next.
As per the schedule released by ECI, the period of filing nominations has started w.e.f June 2. June 9 will be the last day for making nominations and scrutiny of nominations will be done the following day on 10th. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures will be June 12 and the poll, if necessary will be conducted on June 19 from 9 am to 4 pm and the election process will be completed before June 22.
To conduct the election, Secretary, Legislative Assembly K. Habung has been appointed the Returning Officer (RO) and Joint Secretary Agaab Mossang as Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) by the ECI.
