ITANAGAR, Mar 31:   Health Minister Alo Libang has assured that the state health department is taking all possible measures to combat Covid-19 in the state and high alert is already on along with setting up of Control Rooms and Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) in all districts.
Libang said this while responding to a query on availability of ventilators which is a vital component in treating positive cases. He informed that as of now four ventilators have been installed at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) and there is a proposal to obtain at least 50 more for TRIHMS, Bakin Pertin General Hospital-Pasighat and capital’s RKM Hospital. 
“As of now we are planning to install the ventilators in those hospitals that have the availability of anaesthetist since it will be difficult to operate the ventilators without them,” Health Minister added.
When asked whether there is any proposal for Covid-19 test centre in Arunachal, he informed the state government has already sent the proposal to the Centre to establish such testing centre(s) within the next 20 days. “Test centre is a subject of the central government requiring authorization by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR),” Libang said.
“As of now, we are sending the samples to Dibrugarh or Guwahati and till date the state has no  positive cases. Up till March 30, 33 samples were sent, out of which 23 have tested negative and 10 are under process.  However, besides these 33 samples, on Tuesday another 3 have been sent for testing,” Health Minister informed.
Acknowledging the importance of Personal Protection Equipment(PPE) for the frontline medical staff, Libang divulged that at least 1000 superior quality PPE manufactured by HLL will be arriving tonight and the consignment will be distributed as soon as it arrives.
