Itanagar, Oct 1: Secretary (Education) Dr. Madhu Rani Teotia  chaired an interactive meeting with the Heads of all the Government Polytechnics of the state here at the Conference Hall of APSCTE building on September 30 last.
Dr. Teotia said that technical education is a very important part of the higher education system and the state’s polytechnics have a very vital role to play in the growth of technical education in Arunachal Pradesh. She appreciated the efforts of the Principals of the newly established polytechnics some of which are located in very tough and adverse geographical locations and function with a handful of manpower, limited infrastructure and resources and emphasised that Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools students should be sensitized regarding the state-run polytechnics so that they can undergo these courses within the state itself.  She informed that although 14 polytechnics were sanctioned by GoI, it is required to re-examine the feasibility of operating so many polytechnics in state considering the fact that annual enrollment was only 40.67% during 2019-20 as against the approved intake of 890 in the 7 functional polytechnics of the state. She added that the few urgent requirements of the polytechnics shall be made from Chief Minister’s Samast Shiksa Abhiyan Yojana (CMSSY) and exhorted the faculty members to remain motivated to acquire higher qualification. Government will try to grant Study Leave to the eligible faculty members as far as possible, she assured besides emphasising that Recruitment Rules for all sanctioned posts including that of Principal should be finalized at the earliest. Earlier a detailed Power Point Presentation was made by DD(TE) S. Bengia to highlight the present scenario of polytechnic education in the state.
The meeting was attended by Director (HTE) Dr. Tayek Talom, Deputy Director (HTE) A. Jonkey, FAO A.K. Saha, SLO Dr. A. K. Mishra, Deputy SPD (RUSA) Minto Ete and all principals of the government polytechnics. DHE PR
