NAHARLAGUN, Mar 11: The state’s first eco-friendly carry bag manufacturing unit was inaugurated at Damsite, Naharlagun by Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Phurpa Tsering in presence of Proprietor, Khoda Vijay, CEO Northeast Today, Tseten Chombay and others.
This nonwoven manufacturing unit is a first of its kind in the state.
Inaugurating the unit, the Parliamentary Secretary appreciated the proprietor for coming-up with the innovative idea and said that it will set an example for others.
‘It is a healthy sign for the state that youths are opting for entrepreneurship, moreover besides providing job opportunity such innovative units are great option to replace the use of harmful plastic bags,’ said Phurpa.
Speaking to the media, Proprietor Khoda Vijay informed that the product is fully biodegradable which can decompose within 48 hours and is priced at Rupees 130 per kilogram.
‘Now we don’t have to import or buy eco-friendly bags from outside the state,’ he said.
He further informed that the unit is engaging people from weaker section like orphans and widows. While, sharing features of the manufacturing unit, Khoda said ‘The machine has been imported from China and raw materials for production are being procured from Rajasthan and Chandigarh.’
