PASIGHAT, Sep 21: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu today launched the 6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah at Yagrung village, few kilometres off  district headquarters Pasighat in presence of DD (ICDS) Machi Gao, CDPOs of Ruksin, Mebo and Pasighat among others. 
Divisional level ICDS cell under women and child department organized the program Meri Mati, Meri Desh, Vhiru Ka Vandan at Yogrung on Thursday morning in commemoration of the great freedom fighter and warrior Matmur Jamoh. Taggu paid floral tribute to the memorial statue of freedom fighter Matmur Jamoh and also took part in the massive plantation drive in Yagrung and nearby Sibut Anganwadi Centre, conducted by the concerned department.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the DC said that the program was launched with the vision to ensure the attainment of ‘Malnutrition Free India’. The Abhiyaan has been instrumental in advancing nutritional outcomes for pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under 6 years of age in a comprehensive manner, he said adding that the programme was aimed at strengthening content, delivery, outreach, and outcomes. The focus remains on cultivating practices that foster health, wellness and immunity against diseases and malnutrition through a theme centered on “Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat”. The Jan Andolan movement under Poshan Maah would serve as an extended platform for united celebration under the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, commemorating the nation’s journey of freedom and progress in the Amrit Kaal, Taggu stated.
DD (ICDS) Machi Gao informed that the month-long event would witness concerted efforts to enhance ground-level nutritional awareness through campaigns focusing on key themes around Exclusive Breastfeeding and Complementary Feeding. Activities like Swasth Balak Spardha (Healthy Child Competition) aim to instill a spirit of healthy competition for nutrition and overall well-being including Nutrition Sensitization, and addressing Anaemia through ‘Test, Treat and Talk’.
