PASIGHAT, Jul 11: Initiating the steps to contain any further spread of Japanese Encephalitis(JE) in the district, District Medical Officer, East Siang District Dr. Kaling Dai has issued an advisory to the public for awareness purposes after report of two positive cases of JE. 
While talking to this scribe, Dr. Dai said that people needn’t panic over report of two positive cases of Japanese Encephalitis in the district but can’t be complacent either which can only be contained from its further spreading by adhering to the basics of   carefulness. As per DMO, the most important preventive and effective measure to contain this disease is to take JE vaccine which is available commercially and by using personal protection against mosquito bite like repellents, nets, eradication of breeding sources, cleaning of grasses around home etc.
While talking about their departmental initiative to regulate JE or any other diseases like Dengue, Malaria etc from further spreading, Dr. Dai said that fogging and focal insecticide spray will be carried out within a radius of 1 km from the cases of occurrence.
Meanwhile, Senior Pathologist at Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat Dr. Kaling Jerang also said that public shouldn’t panic due to a few positive cases. "But we should be careful and follow mosquito bite avoiding practices and prevent mosquito breeding at source, as advised by District Health Society," added Dr. Jerang.
