PASIGHAT, Feb 4: The DC cum DEO Tayi Taggu held a meeting with the liquor wholesalers and retailers of East Siang district on Friday. The meeting was attended by the SP Sumit Kr. Jha, ADC cum ERO Tatling Pertin, CO (Election) Mum Messar, Superintendent of Tax and Excise Kingman Komut and owners of wine shops.
Taggu directed the wine shop owners and dealers to maintain up to date brand & quantity-wise stock register and to refrain from illegal practices. The dealers must adhere to the rules and should not sell above stipulated limits. All must strictly follow opening and closing time of their establishments in order to deter attempts to use alcohol to influence voters. The Excise department will monitor closely and conduct surprise checks, he informed adding that any violation will be viewed seriously and action will be taken against liquor shops as per the appropriate Excise Act. Commenting on illegal selling of alcohol in shops, restaurants, bar etc without permit, the DC affirmed that stringent action will be taken as per law if anyone is found violating it.
East Siang SP Sumit Kr. Jha disclosed that huge quantity of illicit liquor had been seized recently in the district and similar raids will be carried out in the district putting Nakas and surprise checking, place to place will be continued. If anyone is found violating the rule, FIR will be registered and shop(s) will be seized without any further clarifications. Cash memos must be provided to the buyers and any vehicle carrying liquors must have valid documents on road, stated the SP.
