ITANAGAR, Jan 30: In the run up to the mock exercise on earthquake scheduled on February 11 next to be conducted jointly by State Administration/Department of Disaster Management and National Disaster Management Authority, an orientation and coordination meeting/training on Incident Response System (IRS) was carried out today by Nodal Officer, NDMA Brig. Kuldip Singh.
The mock exercise is intended to ascertain Arunachal’s preparedness in face of earthquakes since the state lies in Seismic Zone V and for other vulnerabilities like flash flood, fire etc. Various Incident Response Team (IRT) members from the state and district level attended the training which included IGP, DCs, SPs, HoDs, NDRF, SDRF, paramilitary and army representatives.
Secretary DM briefed the aims and objectives of the orientation and coordination training. It was followed by an orientation and coordination conference in which the methodology of conducting the Mock Exercise was explained. The Table Top Exercise will be carried out on February 10.
All concerned officials and other stakeholders will be participating in the above activities and common people have been requested to view the February 11 proceedings as a training exercise only and not relating to any actual disaster. DIPRO
