ITANAGAR, Apr 24:In view of earth cutting along the national highway NH-415 and other Sectoral roads causing blocking of roads and choking of drainages and also endangering the life and properties of public, the District Administration has issued 144 CrPC banning earth cutting in the Capital Complex for three months w.e.f 24th April.

The decision was taken during a meeting held taking cognizance of various reports and inconvenience caused due to monsoon rains by District Magistrate, Itanagar Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan with all the HoDs to take stock of monsoon preparedness.

The issues such as rampant earth cutting going on Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa were discussed at length.

The DC directed all the administrative officers of Itanagar, Naharlagun and Banderdewa to strictly act against illegal earth cutters and also to create awareness among the residents dwelling near low lying areas, rivers, rivulets, streams and gorges during the monsoon seasons.

The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted that TOLL FREE NO. 1077 shall be operationalised very shortly in the Emergency Operation Center (EOC), ICC and Quick Response Team of SDRF will on ready 24 X 7.

Any citizen can call on toll free no. 1077 in case of any disasters such as block drains, stagnant water, flood, landslide etc. Until the toll free no.  is operationalised, citizens may call on 9436415828/8794765727 for any disaster related matter.

Citing that unplanned dumping of debris and garbage leads to flooding or chocking of drains, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Chief Municipal Executive Officer to start issuing challan to people who carelessly dump wastes into drains.
