DOIMUKH, Apr 22:One day workshop on the theme “Save Earth, Save Life” was organized by the NSS Unit of Government College, Doimukh today to observe Earth Day.

The theme and objectives of the workshop was introduced by Principal Dr. MQ Khan. He expressed his concern how Mother Earth is gradually being ruined by the selfish attitudes of human beings and there is an immediate need to save the Earth to save the future generation as many rare species have already vanished. He also laid emphasis on the need to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Secretary Education Dr. Madhu Rani Teotia, who attended as the Guest of Honour spoke on the importance of preserving the environment and encouraged to educate the younger generation through our good habits and actions. She exhorted the college fraternity on the occasion and declared Government College, Doimukh, a polythene free zone.

Chief Guest, Minister, UD & Housing etc, Nabam Rebia, assured to donate dustbins for the college. Responding to the request of the principal about strengthening the infrastructure facilities, Rebia asked the Secretary Education to provide funds for one more bus and for multipurpose hall and for other urgent needs of the college.

A mass plantation programme was observed to celebrate the occasion.
