Aalo, Feb 8: The Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, Aalo that runs on self-help basis observed the completion of its first year of service to the drug addicts from the district and other parts of the state in an emotional congregation at its Rehabilitation Centre at Hiker Gumin on February 7 last.
The Chairman, Mothers’ Vision ,Jumde Yomgam Gamlin, and its Secretary Kenbi Jini Bagra and others spelt out the hardships faced by the NGO to run it on voluntary and self-help basis surviving only on token help by government and a few philanthropists.
Bagra who handles the functioning of the centre with the help of mothers and few recovering addicts said that it functions in an isolated manner in an obscure place for the brethren who are derailed from normal life, through rigorous counselling, exercise, prayers and meditationto bring them back in track.
The most notable thing seen on the day was the way drug recovering addicts serving the centre and delivering speeches to help other addicts choose a healthy way of life and reconnect themselves with society. DIPRO
