NAHARLAGUN, Jun 3:The Dree Football Tournament 2018 was kicked off here today at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium amidst a sizable crowd. The tournament is being organized as part of Dree festival celebration which is one of the important agricultural festivals of the Apatani community.

Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Kipa Ajay, General Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh football association. In his opening address he encouraged the Capital Complex Dree Festival Celebration Committee 2018 for organizing the event which is also providing platform to the budding talents from the community. He also assured all the possible help from APFA in organizing the tournament in the coming years.

In the first inaugural match played in the open category between Nyime Yaru FC(NYFC) and Myodi Azing FC(MAFC),the match ended in a draw with the score line remaining 1-1 till the final whistle. Dani Sambyo of NYFC and Hage Tadu of MAFC scored a goal each.

In the other inaugural match of the day in the senior category (above 35 years), Bumer Sports Association (BSA) defeated Ball Tula FC (BTFC) by 3 goals to 1. Michi Takung, Duyu Aago and Koj Tatung of BSA scored a goal each for the winner while a solitary goal was scored by Dusu Tagyung of BTFC.
