Doimukh, Sep 20: Dr. J. Suresh Babu, Chief Secretary (Retd.), IAS Manipur, 1986, has been appointed the Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University for a period of five years with immediate effect.
Dr. Babu has a MBBS from Guntur Medical College and M.S. in (General Surgery), from PGI-Chandigarh. He retired as Chief Secretary of Manipur after 34 years of Indian Administrative Service with diverse experience in the field of Urban Development, Tobacco management, District Administration, Education, Health sector, Finance and COVID-19 management. 
While welcoming the new Chancellor, the Registrar of the University Dr. N.T. Rikam thanked the Ministry of Education for carrying out the vital appointment as the University was functioning without a Chancellor since 2018.
