ZIRO, Dec 17: The District Level Planning Committee (DPC) for Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) approved 1356 schemes for 164 Gram Panchayats today at the DPC meeting held in the DC conference hall, Hapoli.

Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri, Chukhu Takar impressed upon the need to prioritize schemes on need base. He also called for conducting Gram Sabhas regularly with the frontline functionaries of all the line departments to facilitate convergence of schemes.

Attending the meeting, MLA Tage Taki advised the DPDO cum Member Secretary, DPC to segregate all the schemes department wise, with indexes for easy reference. This will assist in framing convergent development agendas. Terming the GPDP as a very good initiative by the government, he exhorted major departments to participate proactively in Gram Sabhas and during the initial planning phase. 

DPDO cum Member Secretary, ADC Gombu Tsering earlier in his address stated the objective of the GPDP. He informed that the final GPDP has been prepared inclusive of 18 departments relating to 29 subjects to PRIs as in the XIth Schedule of the constitution. He further informed that all the schemes presented today for approval have been meticulously selected through Gram Sabhas  involving members of Gram Panchayat Interim Committee level facilitators and frontline workers of line departments. 

He also read out the exercises carried out by the Panchayat Department since the launch of People's Plan Campaign on 2nd October, 2018.

Likha Kiran Kabak, senior faculty member SIRD also stressed on the need for a comprehensive convergent GPDP. Focus should also be made for the preparation of resource envelope, she added. 

Former ZPC Hage Kobin also spoke on the occasion.
