Itanagar, Nov 1: A marathon race to mark the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week with the theme “Run India Run, Health is Wealth” was organised today by the Games & Sports Committee of Dera Natung Government College.
The race was also a part of the 40th Annual College Day Celebration 2019 which is scheduled to be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on November 4 next. Principal Dr. N.T. Rikam flagged off the race which was 11-km for boys and 6-km for girls from Hollongi with finishing point at college’s Jubilee Hall. A total of 97 runners comprising 58 boys and 41 girls took part. SP, Capital Complex Tumme Amo, Traffic Police and medical team from TRIHMS successfully assisted the race.
Khyoda Mark, Heli Tana Tara and Lingdum Mama, all from BA 3rd semester emerged as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders respectively in boys category. In girls category, Biki Yatang & Ling Borang of BA 3rd semester and Charu Meri of BA 1st semester were the first three rank holders. Prizes will be distributed during valedictory function scheduled to be held on November 7 by Home Minister Bamang Felix who will grace the event as Chief Guest. Media Cell DNGC
Meanwhile, Vigilance Awareness Week was also observed by KVK Longding at Government Higher Secondary School, Kanubari today.
155 students and teachers participated in the programme where I/c Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Longding Dr A. Kirankumar Singh and Principal, GHSS, Kanubari N. Rina highlighted the programme objectives. A pledge to follow probity and rule of law in all walks of life, zero tolerance to bribery, encouraging honesty and transparency etc was also administered to all attending the programme. Along with it, an essay competition on the theme “Integrity-A Way of Life” was organised by KVK which was participated by 27 students of Class-X, XI and XII.
