ITANAGAR, May 17: The Dera Natung Government College has deeply condoled the passing away of Sanjaya Sharma, an ex-faculty member of the college who breathed his last on Sunday following a brief illness at a hospital in Kanpur.
Sharma started his teaching career as a faculty of History at JN College, Pasighat in 1982 and thereafter posted to the newly established IG Government College in 1986 and continued to teach there up to 1995. In the same year he was posted to Dera Natung Government College which was then known as Government College, Itanagar and served here till his superannuation in 2013. Being an erudite teacher, Sharma was extremely popular among the students for his witty and humorous way of teaching and his versatility is still fondly remembered all over the state in the circles of his ex-students.
Born to Dr P.P Sharma, an eminent professor of English at IIT Kanpur, Sharma obtained his Master’s degree from Banaras Hindu University and altogether had a teaching career of 31 years. He is survived by his wife and son, both currently living in Kanpur.
