ITANAGAR, Sep 3: The 7th Dorjee Khandu Memorial Badminton Tournament 2019 is all set to be held from September 6-11 next. The six-day long tourney will be hosted by the Arunachal State Badminton Association(ASBA).
Altogether participants from 23 districts compromising 332 players including trainers are expected to participate in the tournament.
Announcing this in a press conference on Tuesday, Secretary, ASBA, Bamang Tago said that the tourney will provide an opportunity for the budding players to get selected to represent Arunachal in the upcoming regional and national level tournament.
"I hope that the event will make a constructive impact and help create a lasting Badminton ecosystem ", Bamang observed. Retired international referee, H Gynaneswor from Manipur and other national umpires are invited by ASBA to officiate the matches.
Meanwhile, four top ranking players of last year DKMBT namely Pakli Bagra, Lobsang Choiden Sheryang, Taku Neha, Montally Pul will undergo a rigorous 15-day training session sponsored by Badminton Association of India (BAI) at Prakash Padukone Academy, Bengaluru from September 19- October 5 next.
