Yupia, Jul 31: The 1st meeting of the newly constituted District Tuberculosis Forum of Papum Pare district was held here at the DC Conference Hall on July 30 last.
The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the forum at district level. Additional Deputy Commissioner Tabang Bodung taking note of the alarming TB cases in the district called upon the newly constituted body to work with missionary zeal to achieve the target set by GoI to eradicate TB by 2025.
Chief Medical Superintendent, TRIHMS Dr. Hage Ambing emphasized on the need for streamlining the functioning of District Tuberculosis Centre at Naharlagun and said that there is a need for its urgent upgradation to a full-fledged TB Hospital and advised the DTO to look for ways to develop infrastructure with better facilities. District Medical Officer Dr. Tasso Kampu Subu also stressed on proper counselling of TB patients and the need for a separate TB hospital.
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. P.D. Thongchi while giving an overview of the District Tuberculosis Centre, Naharlagun and District TB Forum informed that the forum will act as a bridge between community, TB patients, health system and civil society with special focus on poor and vulnerable groups. He also informed about the financial incentives available for TB patients under Nikshay Poshan Yojana - a nutritional support for TB patients wherein Rs.500 is given to each notified TB patient, Rs.750 to tribal TB patients after completion of treatment along with various honorariums available for the TB Treatment Supporters. The DTO also elaborated on the types of TB and collaborative efforts with NCD, NTCP and Paragonimasis. DIPRO
