Tawang, May 16: A four-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Khandro Drowa Tsangmu District Hospital was inaugurated on Saturday by MLA Tawang, Tsering Tashi in presence of a host of officials, doctors, health workers and public leaders.
DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok, SP B. Kamduk, DMO Dr Wangdi Lama, ADC Lobsang Tsering attended the inaugural ceremony and anaesthesiologist Dr.Ashish Pao briefed about the new facility and its equipment. After inauguration the team visited the General Ward and handed over cash amounts to the patients which was followed by a meeting with doctors and health officials in the conference hall.
The MLA while conveying his gratitude to the Chief Minister on behalf of the people of Tawang for the ICU, thanked the frontline workers comprising doctors, health workers and police personnel for giving  exemplary services in combating the Covid-19 pandemic. DMO conveyed gratitude to the MLA and GoAP for providing the equipment and appreciated the team of doctors for their dedication in containing the pandemic, adding that even if there is a shortage of doctors and staff, offering best services with available resources will be the motto. He further informed that the KDS District Hospital urgently needs a surgeon and a paediatrician. 
DC while appreciating the doctors and health workers expressed satisfaction for the much-needed ICU considering the remoteness and tough terrain of Tawang district and commended the doctors for saving a life by successfully removing an iron rod recently despite shortage of necessary equipment and experts. 
Reiterating that health and education are the priority areas for the district, DC asserted that endeavours to keep the hospital well-equipped will be continued. Dipro
