Itanagar, Feb 18: A day-long capacity building cum sensitization workshop on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act 1994 was conducted by the Directorate of Family Welfare for the District Appropriate Authority-cum-DMOs and DEOs.
The programme was aimed at training officers and officials on effective implementation of the said Act in districts. Deputy Director (FW) Dr C. Mongmaw requested all DMOs to adhere to the Act and take necessary steps to ensure registration of all ultrasound machines/clinics in the respective districts and strengthen the implementation of PC & PNDT Act by maintaining a strict monitoring mechanism for prevention of misuse of pre-natal diagnostic techniques. State Nodal Officer PC & PNDT Act Dr P Dutta urged the districts to improve the indicator and bring the sex ratio in Arunachal at par with the national average level and asked the stakeholders to take responsibility for proper dissemination and percolation of information in this regard. Through a Power Point Presentation on the status of PC & PNDT Act he informed that it is mandatory to display qualification of the UGC Machine Handler, registration of the UGC machine and its renewal information. He also informed that it is obligatory on part of any clinic/medical establishment to inform the appropriate district authority before purchasing any new UGC machine. IEC PR
