ZIRO, Jun 19: A one-day awareness programme on disaster preparedness was imparted to the children of Government Lal Bahadur Shastri School, Hapoli by World Vision India in collaboration with DDMA, Lower Subansiri District in the school premises on June 18 last.
DDMO, Nima Drema while highlighting safety tips to be followed in case of any natural calamity, said that as the children are the most vulnerable group, it is necessary to educate them about the dos and don’ts during any natural calamity. “Since the school is treated as second home of children it is essential to give them a safe and structurally sound environment by preparing their SDMP and every teacher and SMC must have adequate knowledge about disaster management preparedness for any mishap,” she added.
Programme Manager, Subansiri AP, World Vision India, David Dutta also spoke on the importance of having School Disaster Management plans and explained in detail the preparedness activities to be initiated in the schools. The team later distributed activity books on disaster preparedness to the children. DIPRO
