ITANAGAR, Oct 22: Department of Disaster Management has successfully completed a series of sensitization programmes on ‘Disaster Preparedness cum Mock Exercises’ from October 14-22 at various state government offices. 
Offices of Directorate of Tourism, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, State Remote Sensing Application Centre (SRSAC), Science & Technology and Land Management were the venues of the said sensitisation programmes. The objective of the programmes was to convey the importance of Office Disaster Management Plan (ODMP) and build capability and capacity of the participants so that in an event of any eventuality, each officer/official is aware of his/her roles and responsibilities. The programmes further gave awareness on safety at workplace. 
Assistant Commandant, 12th Bn NDRF, Doimukh Sanjay Sharma spoke about basic safety tips on various disasters such as earthquake, landslide, fire etc. Inspector Ranvir Pathania and his team demonstrated various rescue techniques and basic first aid. Station Officer (SO), Fire and Emergency Services spoke on various dos and don’ts regarding fire safety and explained about various types of fire extinguishers. Officers and officials of the Directorates were given opportunity for hands-on training and usage of fire extinguishers. 
Mock drills on earthquake were also conducted with guidance of the Field Officers of the Department of Disaster Management in each of the offices. DDM PR
