ITANAGAR, Jul 10: In view of the massive damages inflicted on life and property in the state due to continuing rain and landslides, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), has established five Regional Response Centres as a measure of preparedness for the current monsoon to enable faster response to disasters in the interior districts.
The five Regional Response Centres have been set up at Bomdila, Ziro, Pasighat, Tezu and Khonsa and the teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in each of the centres under disposal of the concerned Deputy Commissioners have been pre-positioned. While the Chimpu, Hq of the DDM will cover the Itanagar Capital Region, Papum Pare, Pakke Kessang and districts where additional support in needed, Bomdila Regional Centre will cater to the disaster response needs of Tawang, West Kameng and East Kameng districts. The Ziro Regional Centre will serve the districts of Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, Kamle, Upper Subansiri and Lower Subansiri; Pasighat centre to cover Siang, East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Siang, Lepa Rada and Shi Yomi districts; Tezu centre will take care of Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit, Anjaw and Namsai districts and Khonsa centre will attend the requirements of Longding, Tirap and Changlang districts.
Besides the above measures, teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have also been deployed at Bomdila and Roing with the Areas of Responsibility as Western and Eastern Arunachal respectively. 
The DDM has also issued a set of safety/preparedness advisories to the people of the state for the current monsoon such as avoiding venturing into rivers, streams or any other water bodies during heavy rains and near landslide-prone areas, sinking zones etc. 
Citizens have also been asked to refrain from travelling during night hours and earth-cutting activities and keep sufficient stock of food items, drinking water, medicines, First Aid kits, emergency lights, torches etc. DDM PR
