HAWAI, Jun 7:The fortnight long capsule on disaster management in Anjaw District concluded today with the NDRF team giving training to villagers of Paya, Hayuliang Circle.
Covering all the eight circles of the interior district by holding programme at Hawai, Kibithoo, Walong, Hayuliang, Tafraliang, Yatong, Goiliang, Metengliang, Chaglagam and Paya with logistical support from District Administration and Police Department under the supervision of DDMO, S Tayang, the NDRF team has endeared the theme of disaster preparedness to the people of villagers with their live demonstrations.
Inspector Manish Kr. Choudhary who is leading the team comprising of dicers and sniffer dog, alongwith others, evinced satisfaction on the status of identified shelter houses in all the Circles. The NDRF team stated that people have been participatory and with cooperation to Administration, Medical and Police Department, they feel, they have successfully achieved good level of preparedness.
As per assessment of NDRF, the district was found more prone to landslide and electricity related disasters so special focus was given on both during training. Earlier on Wednesday, a special interactive meeting of the NDRF with District Disaster Management Authority, Anjaw was held under Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Mamata Riba to take stock of grass root preparedness vis a vis expertise of the NDRF
