The outcome of the workshop is ten new products which are light to carry for the tourist and affordable too. All of these products use local fabric and traditional motifs and design readily available in the Bomdila Craft Centre thus making the production process cost effective. For the same, a hands-on training was provided to the master trainers and all the passed-out trainees, of the past three years, of the Bomdila Craft Centre.
Throwing light on the booming tourism growth in the district, Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop urged the trainees to take up the venture whole-heartedly to strengthen the socio-economic condition of every household.
The workshop was facilitated by the Chief Ministers Fellow Kime Bune and Ronnie Nido under their project titled “Threads and Looms”. The project aims to increase the livelihood of Handloom dependent households by linking handloom and the tourism sector. Under the project, the next step is to expedite the production process and link it with the booming home stay culture in the district before the next peak tourist season. The workshop was funded under the BADP. DIPRO
