ITANAGAR, Aug 12: In response to reports made by students in local dailies and social media regarding the release of fund from the Government of India, the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment & Tribal Affairs (SJETA) clarified that the Department has not yet received any scholarship fund from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for the Academic Year 2018-19.
In its press communiqué , the Director, SJETA, Yumlam Kaha claimed that the Government of India vide letter no. 20014/04/2012-Edu/Sch. Dtd 4/09/2018 had released an amount of Rs. 18 crore in respect of Post Matric Scholarship scheme for Academic Year 2017-18 as arrear grant during FY 2018-19.
Some section of students are claiming this particular release as the fund for FY 2018-19 and hence alleging the Department for not disbursing the scholarship for the year 2018-19, clarified the Director.
However, for the welfare of students, the Department of SJETA has processed for obtaining loan from the State Government on return basis in receipt of fund from the Ministry.
The State Government has been kind enough to allocate an amount of Rs. 17 crore for which the file is under submission for concurrence at different levels. And the additional requirement for an amount of Rs. 24 crore is also under submission for consideration of the State Government, informed the Director.
While expressing resentment over the delay, he added that the State Government will fully ensure release of scholarship to students and also understands the difficulties faced by them due to delay in release of scholarship.
Meanwhile, the Department has requested the student community not to get carried away by false information being circulated by some section of people in social media and local dailies. Newsdesk
