AALO, Dec 6: District Election Officer Swetika Sachan had a detailed review meeting with SPs, EROs and AEROs of West Siang, Siang and Lower Siang districts on election preparedness in all polling stations in these three districts falling under DEO, Aalo at deputy commissioner’s conference hall today.
The DEO was specific on physical verifications of all polling stations to work out key issues and basic services like drinking water, toilets, net connectivity, communication facility, temporary and permanent structures that have law and order situation bearings from such assets in all the polling stations.
She disclosed that coming election has a tag of “Accessible Election” by Election Commission of India and effort must be made to list out and record handicapped and ailing voters so that volunteers can be worked out to help such voters. All polling stations must be classified as critical and vulnerable as per the local threat perceptions to beef up security in all such polling stations and all information gaps must be managed to act immediately in case of law and order problem.
The movement plans should be drawn elaborately and sector magistrates should ensure smooth handling of VVPAT by all voters through awareness and mock polls in Sarkar Aapke Dwaar being launched all over the district. She also stressed on compulsory attendance in training, listing out of officials, requisitioning of all government vehicles and not to allow any kind of leave to any official from February.
The SPs dwelt at length on security measures being worked out and additional police personnel required, WT stations to be set up, hand held sets, porters and transportation to police personnel to tackle law and order situations in the election. They also disclosed that police is keeping a close vigil on trouble makers during election in the past and deal with them as protective measures also. The EROs/AEROs from Yomcha, Likabali, Basar, Aalo East, Aalo West and Rumgong also took part and spelt out their preparedness and problems.
