ITANAGAR, Jan 17: A one day demonstration programme on ergonomically developed ladder and backpack for load carrying in Sherpa mode was held at Lumri Village, Yachuli Circle under Lower Subansiri district on Friday.
About 11 persons participated in the demonstration which was sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) through AICRP on ESA, NERIST Centre, Nirjuli. The demonstration was conducted in the orange farm of a progressive farmer Likha Takam and Likha Nakh.
The farmers appreciated the usage of the ladder which increases the plucking rate and reducing fruit damage as it has continuous unloading system attached at the top of the ladder. The farmers also appreciated the developed backpack for load carrying as they can carry more weight of oranges from the field to the market.
