ITANAGAR, May 28: Hundreds of students from different colleges and universities demanding justice for the slain former Minister and NPP MLA Late Tirong Aboh and 10 others, participated in a solidarity march organized by the Arunachal Civil Society (ACS).
Holding placards and candles, members from Tirap Changlang Namsai Longding Students’ Union, Students’ Union of NERIST, Himalayan University Students’ Union, Galo Students’ Union, All Longding District Students’ Union, DNGSU, various CBOs and senior citizens participated in the rally that began from Akashdeep and culminated at IG Park.
Speaking to media, ACS Chairman Patey Tayum said that the incident which is a political assassination has shocked the whole state depicting a total lawless situation. While citing the earlier assassination incident of former MP and Minister Wangcha Rajkumar, the chairman lamented that no arrests had been made so far in this case also. Recalling his interaction with Late Aboh, Tayum said that he was an intellectual and good human being and his assassination needs to be probed by top investigating agencies.
“Moreover, as per report Late Aboh had already lodged FIR against threat calls and despite knowing that why did the government failed to provide adequate security to him,” questioned Tayum, while claiming that there must be nexus between government and underground elements.
ACS along with all other student organizations has demanded investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
