YINGKIONG, Jul 19: Although the whole of Arunachal Pradesh is experiencing heavy and incessant rainfall during the last ten days, in case of Upper Siang district it has been more prolonged.
The district has been experiencing continuous rainfall since February 7 this year and more than 100 days rainfall has been recorded till July 15. Due to this above-average rainfall, the entire region has suffered numerous damages including massive destruction of roads leading from Pasighat to Yingkiong, Aalo to Yingkiong and Tuting. BRO roads in these areas also suffered severe damages due to landslides and sinking areas with road blockades at many places.
BRO troops deployed in these areas under 761 BRTF, Project Brahmank have worked continuously despite inclement weather all throughout this devastating period. Complete road sector from Pangin to Tuting has now been opened for traffic in record time despite multiple odds and life threatening conditions such as sudden and heavy muck flow from hills, shooting stones and sinking of hill slopes.
