NEW DELHI, Sep 27: Minister, Environment and Forests, Land Management etc, Nabam Rebia on Thursday called on Minister of Defence, Nirmala Sitharaman at her office chamber and apprised her regarding issues pertaining to acquisition of land in the State of Arunachal Pradesh for defence purposes.
In the meeting, Rebia sought her intervention to settle all the pending land acquisition process in the State which was assured by her during her last visit to the State on December 5, 2017.
Nabam Rebia apprised the Minister that initially the Army personnel take up land acquisition matters very proactively but later during the finalisation of the issue they back track and decisions are delayed due to which the State Government particularly the officers involved in land acquisition process gets highly discouraged.
He also handed over the DO letter of Chief Minister, Pema Khandu regarding land acquisition for establishment of Army Headquarters at Gumto under Papum Pare District, for which an area measuring 661.90 acres had been identified by the Army in the year 2008.
Rebia informed that accordingly the State Government had notified the same vide Notification No. LM-67/2010 dated 25th December 2015 but the issue is pending till date.
Rebia further requested Union Minister of Defence to expedite the matter on priority basis. In response to Rebia appeal, the Union Minister assured that the issue will be looked into and appropriate action will be taken accordingly.
