PASIGHAT, May 9: Deputy Commissioner cum District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Dr. Kinny Singh today chaired a district level meeting to discuss pre-monsoon preparations of East Siang district here at Siang Hall.
Various issues like preparation of department-wise monsoon preparedness plans, disaster relief measures, early warning systems, checking readiness of equipment, advance procurement of necessary relief materials and lessons learnt from previous similar experiences were thoroughly discussed at the meeting.
Dr Singh shared vital suggestions and preventive measures for the upcoming monsoon and urged the participants to take advance action in order to tackle the upcoming monsoon and directed all the line departments to review and submit their disaster management plans at their earliest with updated inventory list.
The DDMA also advocated for active involvement of Gaon Buras in the Incidence Response Team and further emphasized the need for greater coordination between various stakeholders and non-governmental agencies. Laying stress on timely issuance of notice to the people living in vulnerable areas and maintaining stocks of lifesaving drugs and food grains, she also issued instructions to the officers to be available in their respective places of posting in full alert.
Instructions were also given to conduct regular mock drill in the township and other vulnerable areas involving all stakeholders in collaboration with NDRF and to set up a dedicated 24x7 District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) with required infrastructures and manpower.
DDMO G. Tsomu through a power point presentation briefed about the action plan for ensuing monsoon. The meeting was also attended by the Incidence Response Team and Disaster Management Committee. DIPRO
