Koloriang, Jul 9: Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner Kento Riba on Thursday conducted a meeting with various stakeholders comprising officials of the DA, NHIDCL and contractors to review the ongoing infrastructural developmental works in the district particularly those related to roads.
The issues discussed in the meeting were - pathetic condition of roads in the district, the still unfinished stretch from Old DC Office to Tayeng Village on which the Mini Secretariat is located, land assessment of Risso Tachey at Pungrung, Geology & Mining office at O Point, local issues relating to compensation, monitoring of the TAH project by NHIDCL to oversee the executing agency’s adherence to guidelines/DPR/quality etc. and penstock pipe requirement at Yapak by the Hydro Power Department.
Drawing attention of the stakeholders regarding the shabby condition of the district’s roads, DC said this has adversely impacted the forward movement of army convoys to the border posts and appealed the NHIDCL and contractors to expedite the Joram to Koloriang stretch construction for making it more motorable. 
The sub-contractors conveyed their grievances about the local problems they face during construction and suggested early acquiring of land at Bridge Point which is posing hurdles in conducting critical construction works. 
DC assured to direct the Land Department immediately to act promptly and advised the contractors to not compromise while cutting the highway within the township areas and strictly abide by the RoW. 
General Manager, NHIDCL Prabhakar Kumar while assuring to complete the maintenance works of the Joram to Koloriang stretch within 4-5 days, informed that repair and maintenance along the Deed-Dem-New Pania road is currently on, along with rectification of patches on the stretch between Kra Daadi gate and Meer bridge. He also assured to complete the Joram to Koloriang stretch within two years provided the works pick up desirable speed. 
He further requested the DA to initiate a recovery process of the amounts paid to certain departments like Power and others and assured to transfer some amount of money to the DA to meet up expenses that would be incurred as payment to the land owners who had been previously left out. The General Manager also requested the DA to help the local contractors for inducting more labourers from outside, to which the DC assured to set up a dedicated help-desk to facilitate issuance of permits and other services. 
DC while suggesting to convene review meetings with his Kra Daadi and Lower Subansiri counterparts, assured the NHIDCL and local sub-contractors all-possible help from the DA.
