PASIGHAT, Jun 3: With the aim of reducing and eliminating adverse impacts of waste materials on human health and environment, a consultative meeting was conducted today by the East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Kinny Singh in her office chamber.
Dr. Singh while addressing the officers of PMC, UD and administrative officers of the district stressed that solid waste must be managed systematically by incorporating in environmental planning to ensure best environmental practices. DC said that special training will be provided to all administrative officers on solid waste disposal and vermicomposting plan involving the Gao Burahs of all villages for proper implementation of Solid Waste Management Act 2016.
The DC also threw light on ban of use of plastic beyond/below 50 micron in the districts and informed that special drive will be launched soon against use of plastic, besides appealing the citizens to help in segregation of waste at source. DIPRO
